ncurses / terminfo key mapping on QNX console

I enjoyed reading this perspective, but isn’t what he’s saying
that because Sun can’t do anything right, we all deserve
what’s left, namely Microsoft? This is a pretty narrow
perspective.

If ‘nto’ == Neutrino, then:

RTP is a superset of Neutrino. I.E. RTP is Neutrino plus the Photon GIU for
the Intel x86 platform.

So, it should work.

Check the QDN website and look under articles. There an article about
porting.
Unfortunately, it’s not exactly what you’d expect, since it focuses
primarily on howto package software. You are responsible for getting it
compiled first :oP

Darren Reed’s ipfilter…

Yes, not up-to-date, but at least (more or less) works on QNX4/QNX6…

Probable reason of the version delay: there are serious OS-specific
modifications in the src-tree, and these changes has not been
merged-back/reintegrated into the original src-tree, so version update
is not automatic or easy…

You only seem to need RX. TX and Ground, but find out

Interesting. On my model 6631 the networking is just fine.

Hello Matt,

sorry I probably can’t help you much in these issues except I think you
better forget the modem, AFAIK these are Win-Modems that do not have own
“intelligence” and rely on the cpu and (Windows-)drivers, but correct me
if I’m wrong. At least my modem is one of these that do not work on any
platform except Windows.

I also own a Fujitsu Lifebook C-5110, and I’m interested how I can get
my PCMCIA network card (8139-based) to work. I sadly cannot find any
information about this while surfing the net, except it is listed as
“working” somewhere in the QNX hardware database. But network
configuration does not show any eth0 interface after installation of
QNX 6.1 from CD (I downloaded the qnxrtp.iso file and burned it onto
disc).

Did not try Yamaha-based sound yet, as networking is of most importance
for me by now. I also have an USB-to-SCSI-connector, but I do not really
expect getting it to work.

Generally I’m missing some documentation about driver installation, does
anyone here have a clue where I can find some and sources for any new
drivers ?

Thanks in advance & bye,

Philipp.

Hey,

I just installed the QNX Realtime Platform and installed it. Everything
went fine. I’m now running QNX and Windows ME.

It seems like QNX, like Linux, only supports DHCP, and not PPPoe. I had
a program from roaringpenguin.com that allowed me to fix that on Linux,

I’d appreciate any help you guys could give me. If you know of a PPPoe

Thanks!

I posted a message to the group in response to this question, with the file

QNX4 is totally different from RTP (aka qNX6). Binaries for qnx4 won’t
run on qnx6 and vice-versa.
I have compiled samba 2.2.2 for qnx rtp, after making some fixes, you
may download it from qnxstart.com (if it goes up sometime!)

Oh yes, I have already tried to run samba for qnx 4 on qnx rtp > > It wasn’t

THX for advice.

BTW
What’s going on with qnxstart.com ? I’s always down. There are so few nice
sites for qnx users and my favorite doesn’t work.

Yes, it is possible… And the following is true for all versions of QNX (4.2x, 6.x)…

Firstly, you should check your ‘/etc/ppp/options’ file for presense the string
user YOUR_USER_NAME_AT_WIN_NT_SERVER
by default, the pppd daemon will use your hostname (applied to Sock[l]et).
Secondly, in ‘/etc/ppp/pap-secrets’ add the following string (if the file is absent, create new one)
YOUR_USER_NAME_AT_WIN_NT_SERVER * YOUR_USER_PASSWORD_AT_WIN_NT_SERVER
(if one of user’s name either user’s password contains special symbols, quote it with " (double quote) symbol)
Surely, you could do it when you’ve log on as root, since ‘/etc/ppp/pap-secrets’ should have root/root as owner
and 600 as mode… For more info see help on ‘pppd’…

I have tried to do in this way but the connect still go down…

My ppp options file is:

debug
/dev/ser2
9600

#receive-all
#10.16.60.151:10.16.60.150
#connect “\d\c”
#name maintenance
#remotename user
user maintenance
modem
#lock
crtscts
auth
defaultroute
#noipdefault
#asyncmap 0
#proxyarp
lcp-echo-interval 30
lcp-echo-failure 4
idle 600
noipx

my pap-secrets file is:

maintenance * pippo

The Qnx Client have the static IP: 10.16.60.151
The NT Server have the static IP: 10.16.60.150 without DHCP Server.
The windows NT can authenticate the user maintenance with password pippo.

My etc/hosts file is:

Host Database

This file should contain the addresses and aliases

for local hosts that share this file.

It is used only for “ifconfig” and other operations

before the nameserver is started.

127.1 localhost localhost.my.domain

Imaginary network.

#10.2 myname.my.domain myname
#10.3 myfriend.my.domain myfriend

#208.159.255.245 node1
#10.0.0.1 node1
10.16.60.151 node1
#192.9.202.226 node1
192.9.202.227 sts01
192.9.202.222 cdc132

my /etc/resolv.conf file is:

domain WORKGROUP
nameserver 10.16.60.150
domain capgemini.it
nameserver 208.159.250.2
#domain domain
#domain Berkeley.Edu
#nameserver 128.32.0.4
#nameserver 128.32.0.10

Finally my test script that launch qtalk:

trap ‘’ 1 2 3 15
/bin/Dev.ser -N/dev/ser2 -b 9600 2f8,3 &

PORT=/dev/ser2
saveterm="$(stty -g < $PORT)"
stty baud=9600 bits=8 stopb=1 par=none +raw < $PORT
sleep 2

slay Socket
/usr/ucb/Socket -p1 node1 &
#tinit -c /bin/modem -T $PORT &

#CNT=5
#while [ $CNT -gt 1 ]
#do

sleep 1

echo “CLIENTSERVER” > $PORT

CNT=expr $CNT - 1

#done

run pppd

#/usr/ucb/pppd $PORT
qtalk -m $PORT

after that I press ctrl-A and I run pppd

\

end

stty $saveterm < $PORT

That’s all!!!

is It all correct or not?

The problem is that the ppp don’t execute the connect to the NT:
in syslog file I have seen that the ppp send the packet without receiving
any valid packet from NT after go timeout end then hangup the line.

Thanks

First of all add option ‘kdebug 25’ to pppd and take a look into your syslogd’s files (did you setup it properly?). There would be a
reason of disconnection from WinNT.
And here are my files:

$ cat /etc/ppp/options
modem
crtscts
defaultroute
user pppuser

$ cat /etc/ppp/pap-secrets
pppuser * ppppass

To dial-out from command line I use ‘modem’ (I don’t know why but ‘pppd’ and ‘chat’ together cannot dial-out well…):
$ on -t /dev/ser2 modem -b57600 -p1234567 -cpppd

That’s all for me. BTW, remember to allow non-encrypted passwords on WinNT Remote Access Service or you won’t be able to
connect at all.

Yes, but 6.0 or 6.1?
