Toshiba Satellite 2755DVD

Does anyone have any experience with the Toshiba Satellite 2755DVD and QNX 4
and/or Neutrino?

Does it work well with either/not well with either/not at all with either?

DVD drives will appear as CD under QNX4. Neutrino supports writing to
DVD, but only to raw device or QNX4/Linux/DOS filesystes, not UDF. If
you can find Unix UDF mastering software you could write image at once.

Hi Igor

The DVD drive is read-only. Besides, the DVD is merely a fringe benefit
(and a good one. I have a large library of DVDs). I only need to read
software CDs, like the QNX CDs.

Will this drive read software CDs under QNX and/or Neutrino?

What about the graphics and Photon?

What about the PCMCIA, etc.?

I have DVD-RAM which is writable, so I forgot some people might have
read-only ones…

Not sure what you mean…

Not sure what you mean…

Does this laptop play nicely with Photon?

Can QNX & Nto talk to/through the PCMCIA on this laptop?

It depends mostly on video chip. Find one with ATI Rage Mobility, then
you might be ok.

Can QNX & Nto talk to/through the PCMCIA on this laptop?

Yes. NTO also supports CardBus and more chipsets.

    I uses the 2710DVD , the chip is trident Cyber9525dvd chip , it’s not

support by QNX4 , and VESA2 , so If you used the same chip , forget
the QNX Installation under the machine until the VGA driver is BORN .
or it will slow and only vga 640x480 16color

My original message was posted a while ago but since someone replied to it,
let me update what I have found.

I only finally loaded Nto on this laptop about a week ago and this is what I
found:

  1. VGA display DOES work fine. I use 1024x768x24. BUT, it IS slow as ****.
  2. It seams to know that the CardBus exists, BUT does not seam to see any
    network cards in it.
The only cards I own so far are network cards and I haven’t really spent any
time trying to get it to work so don’t take my critisism as a big negitive.
