Hello there,
has someone yet tried to create a recovery CDROM? I would like
to have a bootable CD that contains a mirror of my present system,
so that in case of a complete crash I just boot from CDROM,
use all my utilities from CDROM to re-format and re-partition the
hard disk, if necessary, and copy all system files back to hard disk.
I have got that far that I used mkisofs to create the image.
I even got it to boot. But then I got stuck when Dev wanted to
write to /dev and the mount to /dev/cd0 should happen.
I presume I have to make use of the ram disk as the CD is not writable,
but I’m a bit in the dark there. Can some kind soul point me towards the
right direction?
Thanks
Dorothea
This can no doubt be done, but here is a slightly
simpler approach.
Before
Make a backup CD of your disk using mkisofs.
To Restore
Boot using QNX’s install CD-ROM and install QNX.
Reboot, and now copy back from the backed up CD-ROM.

Ok, I found it at free/qnx4/gnu.
But there came another question:
Why are there three versions of mkisofs?
Any caveats using the latest?
