Real 3D Starfighter AGP

Does anyone know if this card is supported by Photon 1.14?

If you need any more information just let me know how to get it.

I upgraded from Photon V1.12 to 1.14 in hopes that there was better support
for this card. The 1.14 crttrap can only generate plain old dumb VGA
support for this card. When I restored the 1.12 crt.# trapfile the
resolution and depth improved but there is absolutely not hardware
accelleration whatsoever.

Grab a `show_pci -v’ and post it. You can snip out entries that aren’t
the graphics card.

Also, who makes the thing… STB, Creative, Elsa?

That’s odd. Post the info above and we’ll check it out.

Here is the show-pci -v, but . . . this card is supposed to be an AGP card
made by Real-3D. The only entry in the show_pci listing looks like an Intel
something or other. It may be that there is one of these on the motherboard
but what I am actually using is plugged into an AGP card slot.

If I boot WinBlows and look at the details under Control Panel → Display it
says it is a “Starfighter AGP - Release 0229” and the manufacturer is “Real
#d Inc.”

Will AGP devices show up in a show-pci?

I have also included the crt.1 trap file that I am currently using under
Photon 1.14.

the graphics card.

Also, who makes the thing… STB, Creative, Elsa?

I upgraded from Photon V1.12 to 1.14 in hopes that there was better
support
for this card. The 1.14 crttrap can only generate plain old dumb VGA
support for this card. When I restored the 1.12 crt.# trapfile the
resolution and depth improved but there is absolutely not hardware
accelleration whatsoever.

AGP is a superset of PCI, and all of the standard PCI configuration stuff
is supposed to work with it. When we detect, configure and use your
AGP card, most of what we do is standard PCI stuff.

If I boot WinBlows and look at the details under Control Panel → Display it
says it is a “Starfighter AGP - Release 0229” and the manufacturer is “Real
#d Inc.”

Will AGP devices show up in a show-pci?

Yes. It’s likely that the Intel device below is your Real-3D card. I
can tell from the PCI output that it is enabled. If your motherboard has
onboard video though, this entry may refer to that instead.

I have also included the crt.1 trap file that I am currently using under
Photon 1.14.

PCI version = 2.10

Vendor ID = 8086h, INTEL CORPORATION
Device ID = 7800h,

OK. This is not a supported card, but the entries below in your trap
file indicate the the resolutions you want are there.

In 1.14, the graphics setup thingie was changed to add a drop down
menu to select the `family’. If you use that to choose the Hydra entries,
you should see all the resolutions you used to see in 1.12.

crt.1 file:

Hydra.ms -S -i0x4100 -s0x0001,0x0000 -r;Pg.flat -HC0x00010000 -PX -HNqnx/crt

OK. Remember this trap file was created by 1.12.

Under Driver Family: I only see svga, flat, vga4, mono and all.
There is no Hydra option.

Isn’t this card based on the 740?

We have no definite plans to support it, but that can change. If we ever
do support it, it will show up in RTP first, but we’ll be able to backport
those easily enough.

OK. Remember this trap file was created by 1.12.

Ahh… do you have the 1.14 one?

The Hydra ones show up under flat. Sorry for the misdirection.

I don’t know. What can I look for?

Isn’t this card based on the 740?

On a chip on the card maybe?

This would just confirm that it is not supported.

If the devices shows as “intel” via “pci”, then it’s
a good bet it is a 740.

It’s a i740-based card. Check the hardware compatibility list.
