Sorry I usually save old posts for reference. I have Qnx 4.24 and
mount my win 95 machines shared directories. In my sysinit file
I run the following lines:
It mounts my windows machine and logs in with the plain shared
password.
Now I have a windows 2000 server I would like to log into
and mount a shared directory. I have seen some notes about
changing itsregistry to take plain passwords. I really do not
want to change that. In order to log into the win 2000 server
do I need a newer version of smbfsys ? That supports
encrypted passwords ?
It was pretty simple before with the win 95
machine before and do not need to have any machines mount
my qnx machine.

maybe smbclient is an alternerive for you it comes with the smba package.
This is like ftp for smb severs
It mounts my windows machine and logs in with the plain shared
password.

So if I just want to mount my windows 2000 server from Qnx 4.24 ,
I need to get the newer samba , Grerate a new samba password
file. And look into using the samba client ?
Thanks for the reference tip about old posts on deja news.

We use the 2.04 version of samba here, and W2k can mount shares, but
there’s a squirreliness, e.g. “Network Neighborhood” doesn’t see the
QNX machines - maybe 2.07 would fix that.

You’re welcome.
