New user mouse problem.

Just installed the core package last night but can’t get my mouse to work.
The pointer will move side to side but not up and down. Could anybody give
me some things to check or are their any known issues that can effect the
mouse in this way?

TIA, Paul.

It would be hard for me to imagine that this is anything but a hardware
problem. Have you tried the mouse on another system. Frequently you
can open the bottom of a mouse, remove the ball, and then carefully
remove the gunk that accumulates on the X a Y axis rollers.

I’ve borrowed another mouse and this works fine (standard MS mouse). The
previous mouse was a wheel mouse with both horizontal and vertical
scrollers. Theres definately nothing wrong with it as it is brand new and
works in both Windows and Linux without fail. Is anyone else having problems
with wheel mice and QNX rtp?

I’m having a similar problem with my mouse. The mouse works fine on other
systems. It is a Logitech mouseman, it has 4 buttons, 3 on top and a
thumb button. I can get vertical movement if I hold the middle button
down (I’ve since taped it down when I’m using QNX). It’s a PS2 mouse
which is connected to my serial port through the adapter that came
with the mouse. I’ve tried putting various settings in
/etc/config/trap/input.node
The best working one just being msoft -3 -R fd -d/dev/ser1 . I can at
least use it with the middle button taped down with that.

“Like hell it is. This is a people shooting hat. I shoot people in this hat.”
