Net.ether9000 and SMC LAN91C96, do they work?

We have been using the SMC 91C94 Ethernet chip in a design with the QNX
4.25 Net.ether9000 driver, no problem. Now, we find ourselves having to
use the SMC LAN91C96 chip in it’s place. According to SMC they are 100%
hardware/software compatable.
But, it does not work with the Net.ether9000 driver. In the SMC
migration document it mentions some differences like the Rev ID is
longer and a new power down bit in the config reg. Which the QNX driver
might be setting since it was not used in the C94.
Has anybody tried this chip?
Did ya get it to run?
If so, with which driver?
Is there a place to get the source for Net.ether9000 driver?

Hi Jeff,

What doesn’t work about it? Could you be a bit more specific? What does
netinfo -l display? The 91C96 is a supported chipset but do you know if
the LAN91C96 is different? Sometimes companys like to append little name
additions when there has been an upgrade/change/fix in the hardware.

Hmmm “100% hardware/software compatable” doesn’t seem to be so far

Erick.
