I found that QNX now distributed for free with its PHOTON interface is not
a REALTIME OS! Cause it slows only when I drag the windows, try to run
“heavy” applications and so on
My questions are:
Where can I find Bash (like in Linux with autocomplition through TAB
button) for QNX
How can I switch to Text Terminal if it does exist (Alt-Ctrl-F1 does
not work)
Where can I find Midnight Commander Like Shell for QNX (for editing
files, ftp, internal HTML viewr)
Does Apache for QNX work faster than in Linux, *nix, Win NT
How to learn QNX version
Where to find drivers for graphic accelerator card
Are you running your “RealTime” processes at a higher priority than the User
Interface Graphical Applications?
Real-Time processes should not have a Graphical User Interface (GUI)
component and should run at a higher priority than GUI applications.
Implement the GUI as a different process and have the Real-Time application
send/receive commands to/from it.
Ensure that your Real-Time component does use sleeps, waits, Receives, or
other actions to allow lower priority processes to run (i.e. the GUI).

That is very lame statement. You’re not going to impress anyone here by
jumping in with meaningless statements about something you don’t really
understand. First you have to learn what a ‘realtime OS’ is.

It is in software repository. Start Package Manager.
How can I switch to Text Terminal if it does exist (Alt-Ctrl-F1 does

Do ‘shutdown/go to text mode’. There Ctrl-Alt-1…9 will switch you
between virtual consoles. Under Photon it will switch you between
virtual desktops.
Where can I find Midnight Commander Like Shell for QNX (for editing
files, ftp, internal HTML viewr)
There is MC port.
Does Apache for QNX work faster than in Linux, *nix, Win NT
There are no benchmarks, but it should run fast.
How to learn QNX version >
uname -a (then post complain in newsgroup that its output is lame, so
may be they’ll finally change it).

Funny thing is the only other Artem from Russia I have had contact with was
a bit of a troll and a software pirate. Came around to several newsgroup
advocating piracy, flaming anyone who thought there was such a thing as
intellectual properties rights. Basic belief seemed to be “Steal anything
that isn’t locked down and that which can be pried up with a crow bar is not
locked down.”
About a year or two after his first posts, he started offering compilations
of cracked games on CDs in the comp.sys.ibm.pc hierarchry.
Makes me wonder if it is the same guy and if it
is, what he is doing in a QNX forum.
Igor is very highly regarded by most in this group, and many here at Qnx software Systems Ltd. try trolling elsewhere.

Rick wasn’t criticising Igor, he was criticizing the same person that
Igor was criticising – the original poster of the cluelessness about
“realtime”.

DOOH! I missed the first post and thought Rick was cutting up Igor. Sorry Rick
( I though artem must be an insult or slur against russians)

Makes me wonder if it is the same guy and if it
is, what he is doing in a QNX forum.
Is that not obvious?
Everything he says seems that he’s trying to find a Linux-killer that
will run faster and be better and work for him automatically and
make him look 133+.
And I’m sure you all can tell how much he known by that talk…
It might actually be that this is not a deliberate troll.
