I want to add another source file to a PhAB project that I made. It had a
bunch of shared functions that various callbacks use. Do I have to manually
edit the make file (if so which make file?) or is there some automagical way
to do it?

Take a look at the Photon Programmer’s Guide. In the Generating, Compiling,
& Running Code chapter, there’s a section called “Including non-PhAB files
in your application” that should help you.
