Network Drivers, uh, and stuff

After poking about a bit,. I see my 3c905B card is supported by QNX, but
the demo floppy does not see or support it. I was intending to use the
demo floppy to get a basic system working, and from there, mount an nfs
volume from my linux workstation, with the tar.F archive and install QNX
properly. Is there another floppy somewhere I’m not seeing it, to be
able to install? I do not have a cd burner, and I already tried grabbing
some linux disks and setting up a basic system with network card support,
and nfs mounting the tarfile,. only too late I realised i could not use
the tar provided, as I cannot unfreeze a tar.F, nor could I find out
how/where to. Not to mention I saw that i’d need to be running QNX
anyway to use the ‘install’ command or script anyhow. Basically, I need
to be able to install QNX to a machine where i cannot write an ISO to a
cd, I even tried using wine/linux to use the windows archive (no go
there) and NFS exporting the dir I would install to, and I can’t seem to
find a floppy with network device support to be able to nfs mount the
tar.F archive. Any other ideas, other than trying to find a willing
individual with a cd burner? Thanks to all who help!

Regards,

Alan

The Demo FLOPPY is based on QNX4.

The ISO you are making reference to is QRTP (or QNX6)

You can get the QRTP to install inside a Windows partition (
and soon from Linux).

If you install from Windows (get.qnx.com) you should be
able to boot into QRTP and create a floppy (not easy
if your a newbie)

Thanks. I don’t have windows unfortunately, and I looked and saw that
the drivers for my NIC are supported in 4.25 only,. not the 4.0 that the
floppy is based on. Thanks though.

The floppy is based on 4.2X as well (4.0 is probably the version of the
floppy package). There has been recent change to the 509 driver, maybe
they didn’t make to the demo. Being based on QNX4 (as opposed to QNX4)
this floppy demo probably has low priority

The floppy demo of QNX 4.2x only supports NE2000 compatible network cards.
Come on people it’s only 1.44MB they can’t put support in that demo for
every network card supported.

Cheers,
