Adaptec 29160 driver for qnx-rtp

Hi

I can’t find a driver for this card on the ‘supported hardware list’.
Is there one in development ?

Not to my knowledge, there seems to be some
issues with Adaptec as a whole.

I received this from Ron Stam of QNX. Maybe nagging from more than just me might help.

Qnx4 is a supported product and scsi support for the 29160 is coming. It took
Adaptec over a year to send us the specs on this controller, which is why it
is taking so long. The specs are now in house, so now the work has to be
scheduled. I don’t have an eta on this driver.

Nag. I have an immediate need for a driver for this card.

One of our customers bought a spare computer to backup ones we had configured with QNX and
our custom application. He bought the same computer from Micron as we had bought
originally, only it was probably about 6 months later. I’m not sure yet, what the original
computer’s SCSI card was, but it was supported by QNX. But this new computer came with an
Adaptec 29160N SCSI adapter, and a 9MB Western Digital Ultra160 hard drive. Our customer
wants us to configure it to be swappable in case the other computer goes bad, but without
the SCSI driver for this card, we can’t even install QNX. In the past its been network
cards, and graphics cards for us. Now somewhat current SCSI standards won’t work. It’s
getting hard to buy the hardware that will work with QNX4.

I agree. We are investigating alternate OS’s because QNX seems unable to keep up with changing HW.

Aside the windows familly all other OS has that same exact problem.
VxWork is good in that regard but not on PC platform.
