I’ve been trying to get a PCMCIA Ethernet card working under 4.25 for quite
some time. This is a 3Com/Megahertz CC10BT card in an IBM ThinkPad 380ED.
According to pcmciatrap, the PCMCIA adapter is an Intel 82365SL. The PCMCIA
apparently works, because I have a modem in socket 0, and it works fine.
The Ethernet card is supposedly supported, according to the QNX4 Supported
PCMCIA Hardware list (http://qdn.qnx.com/support/hardware/qnx4/pcmcia.html).
According to the list, it should use the Net.ether1000 driver. However,
anytime I try the Net.ether1000 driver I get “INITIALIZATION ERROR 10
INITIALIZATION ERROR 04.” Some time ago (back when QNX actually offered
free support to paying customers) a QNX tech support person told me to use
the Net.ether9000 driver with the -C flag. (This is listed on the supported
hardware list as the correct driver for the CC10, but not the CC10BT.) So I
tried that and it works. Sort of. Because while Net.ether9000 appears to
load properly, I still can’t see anyone on the network, and I’ve never seen
the transmit light even blink. I could really use anybody’s help.
Thanks,
James Ingraham

Listed below are all the things asked for in the “How to configure/start a
QNX4 network” question in the QNX knowledge base, plus some additonal stuff
for the PCMCIA. (reference no: QNX.000009525). I apologize for the length,
but that’s what the Knowledge Base says to do.
