Hello, I’m in need of some help with a new installation of the QNX RTP and
some hardware problems …
I have a Pentium 166MMX processor running on a Houston Technology
Motherboard with AMI BIOS, 96 MB RAM memory, a 2.5 GB Maxtor Hard drive and
a LG-Goldstar 8240b CD-ROM. The hard drive is partitioned with 1 GB for
Windows 98 and a 1.4 GB DOS partition with the QNX RTP installed to
‘d:\progra~1\qnx’ using the altered config.sys to boot to the QNX RTP with
DMA disabled.
The main hardware problems I’m having are with a Motorola Voice SURFR 56k
Internal ISA PNP and a Sound Blaster AWE64 Value ISA PNP which on boot are
both coming up with ‘Unable to find definition for this device’ (as far as I
can tell with the boot option 666666666666 enabled)

In Windows and DOS these two cards detect as and with the values

The next frustration is caused by my PS/2 MS Intellimouse connected through
a serial port adapter. The mouse is behaving very erratically. It will
work properly most of the time, but periodically it will right click, left
click, jag left and right, open and close windows and jump widows across the
screen leading to a search for that good old’ sledge hammer.
The ‘windows and DOS’ settings for my mouse are
MS Intellimouse (with wheel) PS2 / Serial

The last problem is with my network card. Every time I start up the system
I have to play with the Network Config panel to get it to connect to the
Internet. My Internet connection is through a DSL service using DHCP and
after a fresh boot I need to open the Network Config Panel to the ‘en0’ tab
then change from DHCP to manual and back to DHCP, click enable off then back
on again then in the Network Tab I change the netmask to anything then back
to the correct setting and sometimes I have to do it all another two or
three times before it works and then there’s no problems until I reboot.

I have tried getting it to work with the following in my /etc/rc.d/rc.login

My Video card which is a Matrox Mystique 220 Business, IRQ11 is working fine
