Support for WinModems

Anyone know when there is going to be support for winmodems?
I have one right now and I don’t really wanna fork out the cash to get
a new modem if I don’t have to.

If there are plans, anyone know when they will happen?

Thanks for any help

I don’t expect there’ll be support in the forseeable future.

Why doesn’t QSSL offer a WinModem DDK?

We all hate WinModems. But we all know that they are very much here to
stay. We are paying for one every time we buy a computer. So, even though
they are crap, it would be nice if they could be used.

There are a few problems with this one – the biggest is that different
WinModems often have different hardware on them. And the people who make
them don’t generally distribute hardware specs for what they have – they
just distribute a driver (for Windows) that works with there particular
flavour of hardware.

I know linux has linmodem drivers or something that work with most
modems, can QNX do this?
I have a conexant 56k softmodem or something, I know there are
linmodem drivers for this
so can QNX do the same kind of thing?

Everytime I think about a WinModem I want to laugh mercilessly. Why have a
device that requires MORE cpu time to operate when the OS has enough trouble
opening a web browser! Whaaa? Hello! McFly!

I swear someone was bribbed to even let the whole winmodem idea out of the
box. He MUST have been drunk!

rant rant rant rant
I could go on forever…
