Modems

Well since it doesn’t look like QNX is gonna support winmodems any time soon
or at all,
I am gonna go out and buy a new modem,

any suggestions on what to get? what is the most compatible with QNX, and is
gaurenteed to work?

thanks for any help

I’ve always had good luck with USRobotics Courier modems and even fair
luck with their cheaper Sportster brand. In all cases these are the external
serial port connected versions. I try and stay away from internal modems
at all costs.

3com makes a nice PCI modem which happens to be real modem and works with
any OS.

I have to agree - all my company uses is USR (now 3com) Courier modems
though we use internal and external (no problems with internals).

The only downsides on the Courier is (1) last time I checked the still
didn’t have an ISA version; (2) it is the most expensive modem on the
market (but worth every $$)

Well, if you bought a windows box from a website, and it didn’t specify it was
a winmodem, it most likely is a winmodem… and if you bought a new modem,
check the box & look for terms like “HSP, Soft, Windows”, someone told me DSP
modems don’t work, but my Zoom DSP external works just fine.
