I posted a problem with Photon in X about a month ago, where after
working find for months. Photon in X windows came up in black and
white instead of 8 bit color. I tried rebooting the qnx box, but
it seemed that nothing improved until I restarted the Xserver. Things
worked again.
Well it happened again. And this time even rebooting all the machines
doesn’t help. Well, I got shapes of gray and one green, but ugly. I’ve
tried a large number of things but still no luck. Should I trash
phx and re-install?
More details:
Suddenly my photon in X sessions (called using `phx’) from my
qnx4.25 system to my Solaris 7 display became black and white
only. After rebooting every machine in sight, the black and
white improved to shades of gray and one bit of green. The solaris
machines default visual was an 8 bit psuedocolor.
So I changed the default visual to 24 bit truecolor on the sun. But now the
phx comes up with very strange colors, (red is the main color, but
the rocky island image is still mainly grays) and the image isn’t
right, (it starts to repeat, and expose events show more
discontinuites.
Runing with PHINXOPTS="-X -L64" phx or even PHINXOPTS="-X -L2" phx
doesn’t change the number of colors.
I’m runing phinx1.10 photo1.14

This happened to me too a while back. For whatever reason, it never
happened on Ultra60 machines, but was normal case on Ultra-5/10/30.
