Multi Monitor Setup

Hi all,

using QNX 4.xx Photon 1.14 is it possible to connnect more then 2 monitors to
one system ?

Customer wants a large display-screen - displaying all 9 photon-screens

Any ideas for a setup like this ?

Thanks

Ask QSSL to support the Colorgraphics Predator video card -:).

The only problem would be getting the hw to co-exist on the machine.
Typically you can get two cards on one backplane, but you can also have the
graphics drivers running on different nodes (If your going to attempt this
100Mbit would be minimum). You could have an architecture as follows:

±–+
| | ----Monitor Main node (runs the Photon server and 1 graphics
driver, has 4 100Mbit ethernet cards)
±–+
±–+
| | ----Monitor Slave nodes (each run 2 graphics drivers - no Photon
server, 1 ethernet)
±–+ —Monitor
±–+
| | ----Monitor
±–±–Monitor
±–+
| | ----Monitor
±–±–Monitor
±–+
| | ----Monitor
±–±–Monitor

I would interconnect each of the slaves to the master with a crossover
ethernet cable and have the driver running full duplex (100Mbit each
direction). You then pass args to each graphics driver to have it
responsible for it’s section of the Photon space. I have no idea what the
performance would be like, but it would function.

I worked on a project where 7 monitors were used. This was
a few years ago and they had to ask QSSL which video cards
were supported in this way. I think most are now. The biggest
problems were hardare related due to the wide PCI backplane.
