I just noticed that if I use windows to copy the VCD mpeg I files
to my harddrive, that I can play them under Patch B.
Has anyone else seen this?

I think I played .dat file directly from VCD before patch B. AFAIK, VCD
is pretty much just set of conventions for directory/file layout which
allows compatible players to find the mpeg file and associated menus,
etc, etc.

VCD is just MPEG I with a RIFF header and some extra (skippable)
data slipped in now and again. As long the the player
skips the RIFF header, all should be OK. I think skipping
RIFF header is new in Patch B for mpegsystem/mpegsystemplugin.
