/var/log/syslog keeps getting corrupted

I am running 6.l on an intel box. If I coldboot my machine (pull the plug, power button, etc…)
syslogd fails to restart because /var/log/syslog is corrupted.

The only way I can fix the problem is to delete /var/log/syslog

I have reproduced this problem 5 or 6 times and was wondering if anybody else has
encountered this and knows of a solution

Yes, I have the same problem. It also occurs with the samba log files.

Because of this, I’ve wanted to run chkfsys automatically at startup, but I
haven’t been able to get it to run cleanly from rc.local nor rc.sysinit.
