The QNX RTOS 6.2 Momentics is unable to play viedo filesas .avi, .mov,

Well, strange, they are basic multimedia tool in all o.s., don’t know
why they could not be used in QNX…
I have found the mpegsystem.so inside the dll forder in QNX, but as I
attempt to open an mpeg video file it gives that answer (“can’t load
mpegsystem.so plugin”), as well as attempting to play avi or mov files
(“can’t load plugin avi.so, qt.so…”).
Mistery.
Anyone knows how to install video codecs?

…avi and .mov are not supported file types. This is because the spec’s for
them are owned by other company’s. Microsoft owns .avi and Apple owns .mov.
Most mpeg format’s are supported. However, there are some that would not be.

Close to the truth on .mov; the big issue isn’t the fact that the format
of the files is proprietary (there are free tools available for dealing
with that); it’s the fact that the CODECS are proprietary and apparently
expensive to license. The CODECS for .mov’s are owned by a plethora of
companies.
