Package installer problem

Hi,

I have downloaded AbiWord package from:
http://sourceforge.net/projects/abiword/
but I can’t install it. Usual installation procedure (with pkg-installer)
doesn’t seem to work. It opens the local repository (abiword*.qpr) but sees
no packeges in it. I’ve tried to ungzip and untar it by hand and feed *.qpm
files to pkg-installer with -p option but it says “the packages you
indicated are already installed”, or something like that.
Please, help.

Oh, by the way, my OS is QNX6.1.

Thanks in advance
Dmitri

Hi Dmitri,
Did you try to choose “View my software” with pkg-installer and look into user repository. Maybe,
AbiWord is already installed ?
Cheers,

Eduard.

Hm… Strange enough.
I’ve played around the 1.01 version of AbiWord which was mentioned at
http://www.qnxzone.com/readmore.php?news_id=117
And it worked on my QNX 6.1A system. You’ve probably downloaded the version 1.02 of AbiWord. It’s
only my guess, but there are new tags in .qpm’s and I think they could be unsupported by “old”
pkg-installer. These tags are:

QPM:ProductKeyUrl/

QPM:TargetOSqnx6</QPM:TargetOS>
QPM:HostOSnone</QPM:HostOS>

Since, I don’t see any other differences in qpr (except binary contents, of course). It might be
the package was created in QNX 6.2 and the package suppose to be good for “new” qnx-installer. I
hope someone from QSS will clarify if those qpm tags are indeed unsupported by old pkg-installer…
As an hack you can try to remove those string from .qpm files  Please be warned all hacker’s
solutions are unsupported and unrecomended by QSS, it’s all for your own risk.

Regards,

Eduard.

You’re welcome
Version 1.02 looks indeed empty in pkg-installer of QNX6.1A. Those manifest’s tags are not a
problem, I spent a bit of time yesterday but didn’t find anything suspicious… Interesting, does
AbiWord 1.02 (qpr from sourceforge) install correct on QNX 6.2 system?
