how to undelete?

Hi everybody.

I’m currently having something which looks like a big problem : I deleted
files that I didn’t want to!
Is there any way to recover them, something like the ‘UNDELETE’ MS-DOS
program? I know there is a command called ‘unrm’ on some unix systems, but
it seems it’s not the case on QNX, or maybe i’m doing something wrong.
I would really appreciate if someone could give me some help. And I
apologize but I’m not a UNIX and QNX expert, so give me understandable
advices.

thx in advance
malv

There was ‘undel’ tool in QNX4, you can find it at download section of QSS’s web site. There is no
such tool in QNX6, I tried to port this to QNX6 but unfortunatelly I have no enough time for
this… many headers were changed… If your system is QNX4 just find the tool and undel your
files, if your system is QNX6 and you have QNX4 system - connect your drive with QNX6 partition to
QNX4 system and undel your files. If you are on QNX6 and you have no QNX4 system I’m afraid you
lost your files.
P.S. Please do not cross post.

thanks for your answer
it seems I lost my files, because I use only QNX6 (Momentics NC, Neutrino
6.2.0).
thanks anyway.

sorry for the crossposting, didn’t know where this type of post were
applicable.

This isn’t totally true. If the files you deleted were part of the package
file system you should be able to retrieve them with “pkgclt -r
<path/filename>” command. If you created the files your self then I’m afraid
that they are lost.

in fact I created these files myself, so it seems i’ve got no chance to
recover them.

I have a tool which might help you. It allows to recover deleted files but
currently it will recover ALL of them, not just ones you want. It updates
the raw filesystem data in place so it can be considered dangerous. It’s
been reasonably tested and appears to work correctly, but no warranties

Send me mail if you’re interested.
