Is there FireWire/IEEE 1394 support for QNX?
I know about the Mindshare products, but they’re oriented
toward implementing entire networking systems on top of
FireWire. I just want to interface some industrial
FireWire cameras for a vision experiment.
A low-level 1394 driver for QNX would be a big help,
comparable to the basic USB driver provided.
Higher-level stuff can be written or ported, but
the low-level driver is very QNX-specific.

hey John…
I worked with the guys from MindReady (not MindShare) to help
them bring thier system over to QNX. Although it does have a very
complete top-to-bottom system (including HAVi), they have all the interfaces
for doing low-level work.

John,
I am from Mindready. We offer various products and, among them, a Low
Level API to directly drive the 1394 bus thru an OHCI-compliant adapter.
Feel free to request more info at info1394@mindready.com
The product you’re looking for is called “SedNet 1394 LLA (Low Level
API)”. It’s affordable and available for both QNX 6.1 and 6.2

Just to clarify…
Mindshare and Mindready are two unrelated companies… with similar
names.
Mindshare offers 1394 training and books, but no s/w products.
Mindready offers training, h/w and s/w products, but no books
