firewire + pc104+

Hi all,

We would like to use a firewire (IEEE 1394) acquisition card for Pc 104+
under QNX 6.2. Is there any available solution with drivers,
support…etc,etc?.
If not so, any producer outsite there that would like to develop a driver
with us?
we already get some experience with the Bt848 driver and Galil motion
control card drivers.
Thank you in advance.

There’s the Mindready LLA, but it’s very low level. Also,
it doesn’t work under QNX 6.2.1 yet. Mindready sells some
other protocol stacks that run on top of FireWire, but
I haven’t tried them.

We’ve written a FireWire camera driver for QNX that uses
the Mindready LLA package underneath. It’s a sizable job.
You have to write all the hot-plugging support.

I’d like to see QSSL buy out the rights to the Mindready LLA
and take it over. It’s too basic a component to be outsourced.

Carlos,

There are two options for you at Mindready: a low level 1394-OHCI driver
and a higher level transaction layer stack. I have used both on QNX 6.x
(6.1, 6.2.0 and 6.2.1) and both are reliable and robust. Email to
support1394@mindready.com for more info.

By the way, Mindready offers 1394 OHCI adapters in a various form
factors: PC104+, cPCI, PCI and PMC.
