QNX 2 Serial Problem

Hi All,

I have a modem connected to a pc running QNX 2. I can dial into the modem
but our paging system which uses this same modem is not correctly dialing
out on the modem. This is a production system that has been in use for
several years. This problem supposedly happened before several years ago,
but I don’t see any record of it in our event logs.

So, assuming there is a setting that needs to be made on the modem, which
one would it be? The modem works fine if I dial into the modem. Outgoing
calls are attempted but not made. I don’t know what, if any, errors are
generated since this is 1500 miles away.

Any ideas on why a modem would stop making outgoing calls but still allow
incoming calls?

output of the following command:
stty < $mdm
$tty3 = $mdm, Serial at 03F8
Options: +oflow +paged + hflow +split +hangup
break=03h esc=1Ah rub=7Fh can=18h eot=04h up=15h
down=0Ah left=08h ins=0Eh del=0Bh
Baud=19200, par=non, Stop=1, Bits=8 +DTR +RTS

Any help would be most appreciated.

I notice the flags are +paged +hflow + split. Are the RTS or CTS lines
being set by the modem?
Will it run if you set “stty -paged <$mdm” ?

Just a thought. If you can dial in, there may be a supervisory
program running that allows this. If you then try to dial out,
that program may be interfering. I can’t remember its name off
the top of my head, although the orginal version was called “mother”
but I do recall it was not easy to stop this program. I think that you had
to use slay with a special parameter to, otherwise it ignored you.
