Network timeouts

Hello,

I have a Cornet card that used the Net.ctne2000 driver. I also have an
application which uses sockets to communicate with a HP-UX system. Every
once in a while (about once an hour) the communications to the HP-UX hangs
for about 1.5 seconds.

We have isolated the problem the QNX machine by running (almost) identical
software from QNX and linux machines at the same time. The linux machine
saw the longest response time of about 0.5-200ms while the QNX saw 2-1500ms
response times. Most of the time the response is <10ms, but occasionally
the times spike up.

VERSION INFORMATION
OS ver: QNX 4.25B
Net ver: 4.25B
Net.ctne2000 ver: 4.25B
TCPIP ver: 4.25

NETINFO INFORMATION
netinfo shows the following errors (repeatedly):
13:48:20 1 00000C 02FB3F (575) 1000 (irq) collision det heartbeat not txed
13:48:20 1 00000C 02FB3F (573) 1000 (irq) tx err carrier sense lost
(!aborted)

Any ideas on the cause of the problem? If the “carrier sense lost” errors
are causing the problem, how do I correct the problem.

Any help would be greatly appriciated. Thank you in advance.

I think you should speak to Corman about this problem, as it is their driver.

The netinfo errors may not be significant. These errors appear sometimes,
but generally are not associated with any problems. Do these errors occur
at the same time you see the long response time? Anything else interesting
in the netinfo log? Can you post the output of “netinfo -l”?
