Download from QUICS via cable modem to Win95 - ftp to QNX4.2

Since my Win95 computer at home is connected to the internet via a cable
modem I would like to obtain the latest updates to my development software
via this method as it is so much quicker than the other modem options I have
available. I tried retrieving the files via ftp and then sending them via
ftp to my QNX box (on the same 5 port hub) but they always seem to be
corrupted? as the cksums do not match and the files don’t install properly.
I’ve tried this method a couple of times on the same file and always end up
with the exact same result so I don’t think the problem is random. How can I
do this? Is there a way to connect thru the hub directly to QUICS? Is there
a problem with ftp-ing the files the way I have been?

Help! I’m a newbie!

Thanks in advance,
Suzanne Artzberger

Make sure you’re doing binary mode FTP transfer all the way.

I.e. from your ftp prompt type “bin”. Or if you’re using Netscape, use
“save link as” to download, or just drag and drop to upload. (Netscape
does binary mode FTP transfer by default.)

Good luck,

rick

Try telling the QNX that the W95 is the gateway to the world
look in your TCP/IP Docs, see the /etc/netstart file
you’re probably going to use something like “netroute …”
