RAID solutions for QNX4
What RAID solutions are there for QNX4?
QNX does not have any special drivers for Raid devices. Generally, if
the RAID is implemented in hardware, it will work under QNX4. The term
“implemented in hardware” means it presents a standard (i.e. normal)
interface to the computer and all of its redundancy capabilities are
hidden from the software driving the HD.
If the hardware supports RAID, then it should work with QNX. If QNX
supports the controller card, then QNX supports the smart card. The list
of supported controllers (SCSI) can be found at:

There may be third party solutions for mirroring disks. Go to

Hi,
We have a project utilising an Empress Database on QNX 4.25. There will be a
few GBytes of extremely important information stored in the database.
There is some debate as to how we should implement database archiving and
recovery. If the node on which the database is stored goes down we have to
be able to bring up a replacement in a few hours. We cannot afford to lose
any information from the database, except transactions underway when the
node went down.
There are two approaches:
-
Use a replicated database server on a separate node
-
Install a DAT tape and a second hard drive on the server. Archive the
database to tape everynight and keep a recovery log on the second hard
drive.
Has anyone tackled this sort of problem and what experiences have resulted
from it?
I assume with DAT we will have to use a SCSI setup?
Any good recommendations for DAT/SCSI combinations?
Has anyone used the Empress Replication Server on QNX 4.25?
