HTML caching issue between Slinger and IE5

Here’s what I’m trying to do. From an HTML browser, I need to load
a page from a device running QNX4 Slinger. That page reports log
information for that device. This page has a server-side include
call to execute a script to insert the log contents. This all
works fine.

I have two issues. The first is that I’m required to support Internet
Explorer as the intended/preferred HTML viewer. The second is that
as the logs change, and I hit the “refresh” button to get the latest
log information (it’s being added to all the time), IE5 simply shows
me what I already have.

I have placed
in the HTML files, and see it when I “view source” from IE5. I also
tried in there
as well as the pragma no-cache version. IE5 refuses to refresh.

Netscape is just fine with it and works as desired and expected.

Ideas? Thanks! I’m going nuts between trying to figure this out
and Windows crashing a different times (I’m using Phindows).

The same problem has alreaydy been submitted in one of thesse newsgroups (I
can’t remember which one). The conclusion was that it’s a “feature” of IE5.

I have the same problem with my slinger web site.

Someone also proposed to “touch” the source file of the web page each time
you execute it. It’s easy for cgi, may be less with SSI, i dont’t know.

I’m using

… just to be on the safe side .

This, at least, works with the french IE5 (and NS4.XX , of course).
