Microdrive Installation Problem

Hello,

I am trying to install QNX on an IBM Microdrive (340 MB). For some reason,
although the installation is successful, some files are not copied and/or
installed properly because during initialization I get the usual dots and
then a question mark like so:

…?..

And I actually never even make it to the login prompt.
When we were finally able to get past the login prompt (by copying files
onto the MD from another functioning HD), we realized there were corrupt and
missing files, so the installation was useless. We ended up just copying
the OS from another hard drive onto the MD.
The same exact system with a different PCMCIA hard drive (a Viper 340 MB)
worked just fine. Is there something about the Microdrive in particular
that I am missing?
I apologized if I posted a similar message a couple of months ago – I have
been away from this newsgroup for a while.

Thanks for any help.
Luca

The “…?..” means that theer was a disk I/O error while reading
in the boot image. If you ever did actually make it to a login prompt you
were really lucky, but that boot of the OS is not to be trusted.

If you can, boot from floppy and try a dcheck on the whole drive. I.E.
dcheck /dev/hd0

Thanks,

I guess I am just wondering why this stuff only happens when I use the
Microdrive…
