Dial-up Connection Problem

I hope this is the correct group to post this msg.

I have an ISA modem (AOpen_FM56-ITU2_56000) and cannot configure it to connect… phDialer just hangs and then crashes the OS! The modem however work fine under Liunx! I searched the knowledge base but didn’t find specific info for a fix…

Any tips/suggestions would be much appreciated

Thanks

what port, irq is the modem card sitting at?

you will likely need to start another Dev.ser with the options for your modem.
i also have an isa modem at 3e8,5

and i sstart another Dev.ser with:

Dev.ser -Nmdm 3e8,5 &

this gives me a /dev/mdm1 that i can use for dialing.

When u say u start another Dev.ser… do u type it in a shell command with the appropriate options?
i.e. Dev.ser -Nmdm 3e8,5 &
If not, then how do u do it?

My settings are as follows:
Port: 2
Interrupt: 3
Address: 2F8

yes, as a root user typing from the command line.

Port: 2
Interrupt: 3

well this is a little scary in my opinion. unless you have disabled your
second serial port on your motherboard, or you don’t have one (unlikely) then
your isa modem card and your onboard com2 port will conflict.
and neither will work right.

you either want to disable the com2 port on your machine and keep the isa
modem at the com2 ioport, irq (2f8,3) or move the isa modem to a different and
free ioport and interrupt… on my isa modem this is done with jumpers.

you can’t share interrupts on isa devices unless the hardware does some
specialized tricks.

thanx for your help
