Is it possible to broute with a Net.fd Network driver, or
is this something only native Ethernet drivers can do?

brouting is done by Net, not the driver. Theoretically, I think
you could probably do it over anything, including a Net.fd link,
but I don’t like to think about what the latencies would be like,
and it might not be particularly stable.

Hmmmm, this is not the answer I was expecting. I was told
that you cannot broute of Arcnet, which does fit the
description of “anything”. As far a latencies, I think that
if you already accept the latency in a serial QNET link,
then having broute support would only enhance the
functionality, assuming you don’t overuse the link.
In any case, thank you for your answer.

Perhaps this one is
It definitly works! … with the same restrictions that apply to
the other IEEE 802 compatible NICs.
In words: you cannot rely on the qnx_net_alive() base functions,
as long as not all nameloc’s in the net can see all nodes each.
Nevertheless the base functions Send()/Receive() work fine in
all constellations.
