HD0 file damage

We are doing the maintenance for drilling machine which
operate on QNX version 4.23. The software is called cnc3000.

The software came in a set of 4 diskettes. Upon full installation of
all the diskettes and cold boot of the system, the system will go
straight into the cnc3000.
Recently, we have damaged several harddisks.
It all showd “mount -p cannot mount partition 238(0eeh) on /dev/hd0
error no space left on device
diak /dev/hd0 has 19541088 sectors
partition (1200236718…1200545642)does not fit within disk”

Have any possible reasons that could cause this damage happened ?
Can someone advise me how to prevent this situation happen ?
Appreciate your help.

It may be that your bitmap table has been corrupted, this tells QNX about
your hard drive and what disk space is there and used. Do you have a
QNX boot floppy disk? With this you could boot the floppy and try to
manually mount the hard drive. Try something like:

Fsys &
Fsys.eide &
mount -p /dev/hd0 /dev/hd0t77 /hd
df /hd

after you boot the floppy drive. To see this message it must be booting a
QNX
partition, but I think that it may no longer know either the drive
parameters or
the bitmap.

I’ve seen these kinds of error messages when my BIOS didn’t correctly recognize
the hard disk geometry. I don’t know if that’s the same problem that you’re having,
but you might want to look into it. Updating to a new version of Fsys/Fsys.eide
and BIOS solved the problem for me. That may not be an option in your case, however.
