Phab 1.X on QNX4 has an option to import QNX Windows picture.
I coun’t find that option in Phab 2.0 on QNX6.

But that does very little, I think in this perticular case migration
doesn’t really apply. It’s more of a rewrite.

Hi

Do you know if there is any documentation available or experiences from

other customers that could give me an idea of the amount of work involved
replacing QNX Windows with Photon?

Do you have any suggestions?

All the one I know of, have rewrite their application. These two
GUI are VERY different.

I think that even writting a layer to “emulate” QNX Windows
under Photon would be a daunting task.

Do you have any suggestions?

We developed several projects under QNX Windows (see our webpage
www.microstep-mis.com  ), now the new projects run under Photon,
but the interface was completely redeveloped from scratch.

Do you have any suggestions?

I am rather sceptic - QNX Windows and Photon differ significantly -
the API and even the programming philosophy.

Phab 1.X on QNX4 has an option to import QNX Windows picture.
I coun’t find that option in Phab 2.0 on QNX6.

But this would allow only to import QNX Windows resources. QNX Windows
have nothing like callbacks, all events are handled in code.
There is nothing (and I think there will be nothing) like migration toolkit.
The GUI apps must be rewritten from scratch. The only useful idea is
to divide the project into kernel non GUI tasks and GUI apps.

Best regards,

Martin

I tried the migration tool with Photon 1.10 - it was totaly useless.
Is there a progress from this version ?
Our trials persuade us that in the mentioned situation one has only
two possibilies: qwinph or create everything form scratch.

There is an option to Photon to inport a QNX Windows picture. That will
create a Window in Photon with many of the same kind of widgets with similar
properties. But you will then have to go through each one and fine tune the
appearance to Photon and add all of the callbacks (what happens when the
user does something).

I have no idea, but as I said I could not find that option in Phab 2.0.
Unless I missed it, that pretty much describes the status of the option
