Explorer Mouse

Hi,

I am trying to use a MS Explorer mouse under QNX4, these are the facts:

QNX 4.25
Advantech Industrial PC board with a single Keyborad PS/2 connector (you use
a ‘Y’ cable to connect keyboard and PS/2 mouse to it, it works on MS Windows
with no problems).
The mouse is of the optical type. It has a USB connector and a supplied
USB-PS2 adaptor, we are trying to use the adaptor here.

Questions:

Will this ever work? Or we should try to find some non-optical mouse wtih a
standard PS/2 connector?

Can we use the USB port for the mouse under QNX4?

Thanks in advance.

I have no idea if this will work, sounds kinda wierd to me (Y-Cable).

I don’t think the problem is the mouse, rather the adapter on the board, which
needs the Y splitter on it. I am just a bit leery of the adapter.

Yup… there is a USB DDK for QNX4. Talk to your sales guys about it, and
there is a mouse driver in there that should work just fine with the Explorer.

Thanks in advance.

Erick,

Thank you very much for your answer.

Do you know if we need to pay for this USB DDK stuff? We bought QNX from
DATAC as part of the RealFlex software, we have no direct contact at QSSL
sales.

Best regards,

Gabriel

Hi Gabriel,

No idea about the cost for it, if there is one. If you want to
contact QSSL, call, 1-800-363-9001. They will be able to give
you the information on the DDK.

Out of curiosity, what happens when you start Photon with only
the mouse plugged in? (You will have to boot into Photon
automaticly). Does the mouse work then? Don’t use the Y cable
either.

Thanks

Erick.

OK Erick, I got the QNX4 USB driver.

When I start it it does lights the mouse up (its an optical mouse).

The install notes talk about how to set up the mouse controller for
Photon, unfortunately I am using QNX Windows. Can you help me
with the neccesary steps to start the mouse for QNX Windows?

Best regards,

Gabriel
