We have recently obtained a 96 MB flash disk drive (IDE interface)
of Silicontech make. We installed QNX 4.25 on it (with disk detected in
normal mode) using the QNX installer CD ROM. Installation was completed
successfully. We restarted the system after complete installation. It did
not boot to QNX. We connected the flash disk drive as a slave with another
QNX hard disk set as master. On mounting the flash disk drive partition, we
could observe that size of .boot and .altboot files was 0 bytes. The
filesystem of flah disk appeated to be damaged. On executing ls command for
etc, bin, usr/bin, result was junk characters instead of file lists. We
repeated the QNX installation process and could observe the same result.
What could be the problem?
Since QNX installation showed problems for our flash disk drive, we
decided that we will try to manually setup the same for use with QNX. We
used another QNX hard disk as master with flash drive connected as slave.
After booting to QNX, we executed a dinit command for the flash disk. With
flash disk mounted as a directory, we copied all the system files from
master disk to slave disk. On trying to boot from flash disk as master, we
could observe the disk boot to QNX without any error message. We ran dcheck
and chkfsys on the disk. No errors were reported…
Any idea how to make the installation work using QNX installer CD?
