fdisk

Hi,

Same version of fdisk shows the size of same hard-disk to be different
when system has booted from diskonchip and floppy. fdisk run from
floppy shows the correct size.

Why should this happen?

Hard-disk Quantum-Fireball 10 gb
Diskonchip 2000 series.

thanks in advance

The bios might be reporting different translation configuration for
hard drive 1 depending on how you’ve booted.

You may need to use the “eide -c drive_spec” command line option to
Fsys.eide to get consistent results.

Please followup in this newsgroup if you have further questions.

I’m guessing that the two OS builds have different versions of Fsys.eide
built into them.

Boot each and do a ‘sin ve’ to see what it reports.

BTW, if this is true, you are lucky that you aren’t seeing more serious
problems from this anomaly. The older Fsys.eide had some real problems with
accessing larger size disks.
