Supported Hardware for QNX4 4.25

I have checked the list and saw nothing about dual processor, we are
thinking to upgrade our server and don’t know if it will be waste of money
to go for a dual processor especially if QNX do notting with this extra
power.

Has anyone run dual processor with 4.25?

Any help appreciated.
Thanks,
Denis

QNX4 doesn’t support dual processor.

QNX4 doesn’t support dual processor.

It will run, but only on one processor.

NTO will support SMP (multi-processors).

Tkx for the response

QNX4 doesn’t support dual processor.

Same difference, it doesn’t support dual processors.

No, I’d read “doesn’t support dual processors” as "you are
out of luck, QNX 4 will not work on that motherboard ".
Call me anal…
I’d have said “QNX 4 doesn’t support the second processor in a
dual process configuration”

Yes, but the context of the original question was “is it a waste
of money to buy a dual-processor motherboard for a QNX 4.25 system”.
The answer is yes.

As to the larger question of whether QNX 4.25 will work on every
variation of every manufacturers multi-processor motherboard, I’ll
leave that as an exercise for the reader

Jeez, semantics, semantics.

That’s what happens when you snip too much context out

Does QNX4 or QNX6 have SSE support?

I beleive the support is limited because it’s not supported by the compiler.
I don’t beleive the OS has anything special to do to support it. Don;t know
enough about SSE to be sure about this, if SSE adds new register the OS
might not save them on context switch. so you might be limited to once
process using them.

OS must setup special bit in CR4 before starting.
BUT QNX4 don’t setup and SSE instruction call GENERAL PROTECTION FAULT.
I make special boot files and SSE instruction now supported in my QNX4 RTOS.

But “limited to once process” becase context switch in QNX don’t saving XMM.

For SSE desing - use MASM 6.14 in Win98 and make any useful OBJ.
Then this OBJ must link with Watcom QNX4 program.

QNX6 GCC compiler don’t support SSE.
