Modems

We have an app running under Q4 that answers calls and 32 rack mount modems
at low speed ( 2400/1200 baud ).

A question about B0 initialization parameter. As I understand it B0/B1
switches between Bell 212a and V.22 at 1200 baud. It seems that using B1
causes a considerably faster training time which is why we want to use it.
But it also seems to cause more line noise depending on who is calling into
us.

Can someone explain the difference between Bell 212a and V.22 and why one
seems to cause flakier connections ( but faster connects ) than the other?
