.boot file

Hi,

We have developed a QNX-Photon based SCADA package. At present we have
installed several systems in site with the software developed by us. The
software includes a facility for ending all programs and shutting down the
computer. We have observed that sometimes after shutting down the QNX
computer, it does not boot to QNX. After connecting the same hard disk as a
slave disk to normally functioning disk, we could observe that size of .boot
file becomes 0. By copying /boot/images/install.1 to /.boot the disk starts
booting to QNX and our software works without any problem

What destroys /.boot file of our QNX computer? How to resolve this
problem?

Thanks,
Krupa

Hi Krupa,

This could be anything, what type scripts are you running? You cannot delete
this file, you can copy over it though. What happens if you run a chkfsys
on the system? dcheck? How are you shutting down the system?

Regards,

Erick
