Hello
I have installed QNX 4.25D on Gigabyte 8PE667 Motherboard with
Pentium4 (Intel 2,40B), but when I restart, the PC hangs at the
following message:
“Press Esc for alternate OS …”
Does anyone know how solve the problem?
Thanks
Marek

The partion where the .boot file is install should reside below cylinder
1024.
Thanks

Yes, I know. I was trying to install in many different disk, but
always below 1024 cylinder.Behaviour after reset was always the same.

Then .boot is wrong. Is the .boot created automatically (then may be
failure of an auto-detection) or manually (then mistakes like copy
boot/build/hard.1 instead boot/images/hard.1 are possible). Can you
boot from a bootable floppy disk and mount qnx partition ?

If I boot from floppy and mount qnx partition I can work (the chkfsys
utility does not report any error) . I created .boot manually too. If
I connect this disk to another computer (different hardware) it work
well.

Interesting. Then report what is difference between the two machines
On the other hand, you can try to use another loader, e.g. lilo.

I have the same problem with the same Motherboard!

Temporarily I copied .boot from HDD to floppy disk and booting from
floppy.
Marek
For me it is not a great problem. Normally QNX6 runs on the computer.
The boot loader is not the problem. I use the Linux grup and have the
same effect.
Before I had another main board in the personal computer which ran with
QNX4.
Have you tried to install a new BIOS?

I tested it with a new BIOS. (Version F5 Dec. 2002). It makes no
difference.
Dieter
With the old Bootloader (di-nit -b -or -h. /dev/hd0.0t77) it works.
Later I use the Linux loader “grup” again and it goes still !
