QNX 425 Patch G, installation failure ...

I tried to install the QNX 4.25 Patch G ( I download the file from the QNX
Site) and tried with:

/cd/bin/phinstall (I used before prefix -A /cd=/cd0)

I located the file: qnx-4.25-01G.tarx, selected it but the QNX 4.25 OS Patch
level G is in red (not available) and I can´t install it. I can´t use the F2
button.

I purchase QNX before December 1999, so I contacted QNX an they send me an
update CD. But I can´t install the Patch G.
Any suggestions ?

I need to install the patch G, because I am having trouble with the
Fsys.aha8scsi driver. Some times the scsii card can´t find the scsii disk,
and can´t mount it, and so on. I saw that the patch G update the
Fsys.aha8scsi.

I really apreciate any help.

Thanks.

Victor

Here’s a guess based on things I’ve read recently:

  1. Your system time needs to be set correctly (or nearly so).

  2. You need to tell phinstall to do a “scan archives” after you
    select the .tarx file.

I checked the system time, and it´s ok.

I did, but I got the following items:

… QNX 4.25 OS Patch Level G (in a red box)
… Documentation No Patch (in a red and green box) that can be expanded

… Vedit 5.05 Editor (in a red and green box)

… 3rd party drivers (Patch Level A) en a red and green box that can be
expanded

… TCP/IP runtime in a green box

I guess that the box must be white with the borders in black (available to
install), not red, isn´t it ?

Any suggestions ? Thanks for your help.

I did, but I got the following items:

. QNX 4.25 OS Patch Level G (in a red box)
. Documentation No Patch (in a red and green box) that can be expanded

At the top of the installer it tells you what the different colour boxes
mean. Red mean that it’s not available, which usually means that you don’t
have a license.

. Vedit 5.05 Editor (in a red and green box)
Red and Green (which isn’t documented) apparently mean that you got part way

through an install and something unexpected happened and the install didn’t
complete. CD was removed, power went off, something happened. Remove that
component, or Patch, and start again.

. 3rd party drivers (Patch Level A) en a red and green box that can be
expanded

. TCP/IP runtime in a green box

Green means already installed. If it has a “+” sign in teh box then it’s
expandable and there may be patches in teh lower level that aren’t installed
yet.

I believe that white means that there’s nothing installed yet for that
product, but you have a valid license.

I hope this helps.

Any suggestions ? Thanks for your help.

Red and Green (which isn’t documented) apparently mean that you got part

didn’t
complete. CD was removed, power went off, something happened. Remove
that
component, or Patch, and start again.

I just found out that red/green means that it’s installed already, but you
no longer have a valid license installed.
