Ethernet Gigabit Driver Net.i82540

I found that the “Hardware Support” of the site section does not include
the support of Gigabit Ethernet Intel 82540 chip, but the related driver
is included in the last patch G of QNX4.

I would like to know if this driver supports Intel 82546 chip as well.

Thanks in advance,
Enrico

But… It doesn’t support either of these cards for Gigabit, only 10/100.

I am surprised, I did not expect that Gigabit Ethernet caused too much
additional complexity in the driver. We are thinking to use a cPCI card
with the 82546 chip on board.

Is there any plan about when the Gigabit support will be added in the
driver ?

Thanks,
Enrico

No. The complexity comes with the Fleet protocol, as the protocol is in
the driver. The protocol also relies on timers and these would all have
to be changed and tested for gigabit.

Thanks,
