Net problems

I noticed that when I boot as node 1 my network commands work ok from the
start up file sysinit.1. When I boot as node 2 my network commands generate
errors. I commented the lines out of the sysinit.2 file and entered them
into a test file /etc/config/nettest. The commands are

Net &
Net.arcnet -l1 &

I can run them from the command line with no problems. I slay Net and start
them from the /etc/config/nettest file as sh /etc/config/nettest - I start
getting errors. I slay Net and the errors stop. Starting Net & and
Net.arcnet -l1 & from the command line - everything works. The output when
started from a script file is

NET: vidbuf_inuse =00E8 :4B3C Net: Runtime Error 0035 Net: Runtime Error

Any ideas as to what I have incorrect. We are replacing the hard disks in
our Qnx4 machines. I can use the disk to boot successfully as node 1. I have
not attempted any nodes above 2

If you place a ‘sleep 1’ between the Net and Net.arcnet lines, does this
help? Do you have more than one license on node2?

Hugh,

I have inserted the sleep command. Made no difference. I created a script
file containing the commands

Net &
sleep 2
Net.arcnet -l1 &

When I ran the script I obtained the same errors. When I run the commands
from the command line I get no errors and network running. I have all the
licenses on node 2.

From “netinfo -a”:

7 NET ( tx) failed (vc_attach ctrl pkt)
35 NET logical node not in node map

These two errors are the normal result of having more licenses
than you have actual physical nodes.

And they can be eliminated by adding the -e option to nameloc.
