Can someone please tell me how to get my modem to work, i’m so sick of all

Hi Frank,
I am assuming that your cable modem is attached to your system via a network card.
Is the network card you use supported?

Check to see if you have a network card setup first, to do this you can check
the output from pidin and look for io-net, or you can check in your /proc directory
for ipstats file (cat /proc/ipstats will do).
If you don’t have io-net running on your system, you will have to start it, if you
have a NE2000 card you can use a command similar to this found here:

or better yet, the docs that come with Photon (Helpviewer) contain many examples as well.
So check out io-net in the Helpviewer too.
If you do have your network card setup properly and you can ping localhost, then check
the routing information in phlip.

Generally these are attached directly to a com-port (mine is)
I have problems getting it to work as well, since the cablemodem
will only respond to the various ATXX commands in qtalk with ‘OK’
and it won’t follow commands to change its profile.
The default profile ATZ won’t work since that gives a no carrier (I think)
is there somewhere we can override the ATZ that’s used in dialer
outside of trying to set is as the default profile for the modem?
