Another lame Q about donload and install...

Since I havent got the NIC to work under QNX-RtP, I downloaded the
“abiword-rep.tgz” to a folder in windows (c:\downloads)
How do I continue to get it installed when I have rebooted to QNX?
I can see the folder / file in the file manager, but how do I unpack /
install it properly?

I also downloaded “qnxrtp-mousewheeldrv.tar.gz” to get my wheelmouse to
work, since it would make me much more at home if it did…

Do I have to copy it to another folder first (a QNX folder), or could I
install it from where it is?

I know, I’m a newbie, but please have patience, I’m at least trying…

Jane,

Opent up a terminal.

Navigate to you home directory.

To get comman line args type the following ;

tar --help >> tarhelp.txt

This will create a text file with the help
args etc for using tar.

You can do the same for gzip / gunzip

I think you can also specify to unzip and untar in a `oner’

Try

tar -zxvf filename.tar.gz

This should work out but check the cmnd line args as I am
certainly no expert on this !

Graham

I haven’t tried this on QNX, but in Linux you write:

tar -xfvz filename.tar.gz

and that’s all. If the file is not gziped omit the ‘z’ ( -xfv )

By the way I´m having problems to detect my Robotics modem. Check my other
messages if you can help me.

Hope to help,

I havent found my NIC, SB16, 56K Modem, or my printer yet, but sure, what do
you need help with

Actually, you would be better of without my help with QNX, but IF I knew
something that would help, you could have counted me in.

Strange, found my SB16 no probs ?

And my Epson Stylus 600 ?

Anyway, hope the reply helped . . . .

I was only making a suggestion about the command line arguments
its often easier to get them into a text editor and be able to
read them whilst you are running them in a term . . . .

Graham

If robotics is an imulated software based modem and not a real modem with a

au6550 chip FORGET IT !!
