need help on everything :)

Well, not everything, but here is my main problem(s)

  1. my 3com NIC isnt being found at all
  2. my video display adapter is being found at all

Is there anyway to auto detect anything in QNX Real Time Platform like there
is in the demo disk? In the demo disk, everything is found, but not in the
RTP, why can’t they just do an auto-dectect/config in RTP?

Please help, I’m VERY new, so your going to have to explain very detailed
about this please

What 3COM nic do you have? Hard to help you with such limited info!
If it is a PCI card, please post the output from the command
pci.

Could you try to post the following information so
we can determine what video card / modes you have:

The output of: pci -v
The output of: /usr/photon/bin/show_vesa

The contents of file: /etc/system/config/graphics-traplist
The contents of file: /etc/system/config/graphics-modes

Hi,
well, QNX Froze on me while running one thing or another, and I’m very new
to this kind of OS platform. I have a 3com 509 NIC, and a Cirrus Logic
video adapter blah so anything at all would help on figuring out on how to
get these working. Tomorrow I will try all of these things again and reply
with all of the information you need.

Thank you again

We currently do not support Cirrus Logic video adapters. There will
be an svga driver available soon in a patch that should work with any
card that has a video bios. It will not provide acceleration but will
give you more resolutions and color depths to work with.

And for that I thank you!

I got an old 486, that I’m using to try to “slim down” the OS on and just
make it a “User friendly” internet machine, I really dont need much power,
just a slick OS and 800x600 resolution for that, since I’m going to use a
small screen on it.

That will be nice. Practically every video card made in the last
decade or so should support the 640x480 8bit IBM 8514 mode.
