occasionally my mouse goes mad (every movement is interpreted as a right-click etc.) and i don’t have another possibility than to hit the switch for getting out of QNX.
accessing a pterm would be more elegant for shutting down, methinks

You can use to move between apps, and to move through
elements withing apps. is activate I think.
In any event, it’s possible your mouse is flakey. I have a mouse that
shorts out or something every once in a while and it goes screwy afterwards.
The same mouse in Windows seems to recover, but it still has these pauses
every once in a while when it shorts.
I suggest to do ‘shutdown/exit-to-text-mode’ as soon as you boot. Then
login and start Photon (ph). From now on, if you hit
Ctrl-Alt-Shift-Backspace you’ll drop into text mode instead of login
window. So, you just start ‘ph’ again and mouse works, no need to
reboot.

You can also hit ctrl+enter to bring up the desktop menu.
Then use the arrow keys to select the pterm.

this only works, if a pterm is already open.
and most of the time the mouse crashes because of the voyager browser - whilst surfing i only have voyager running, mediaplayer maybe - but no pterm.
