USRobotics Modem

Hi all, I’ve just installed QNX and I want to connect to the internet with
it. I configured the modem that I have (USRobotics 56K external) but when It
connect and it’s going to check the user and pass I get an error message “No
Carrier” and It disconnects.
How can I fix this?

Thanks,
Red Knight

P.S.: I’ve tried changing the init string but it didn’t work.

It sounds like the line dropped. Does this happen all of the time?
What commands are you using to dial (and the init string)?
Have you tried a different number? What are you dialing to (a local
ISP)? Are you behind a PBXor is this from home?

Thanks

You should disconnect carrier detection. In my USR 56k internal, you write
X0 in the init string.

I think that the modem is broken or something like that. I tried adding X0
to the init string to avoid carrier checking but I still get the same
message.
I’m using the default init string, and I use Dialer to connect. The ISP
doesn’t have another number and it’s local. I’m in home.
The weird thing is that on Windows I sometimes can connect, sometimes don’t,
but if I use the other modem (a winmodem) from Windows I can connect without
problems…

Thanks anyway,
Red Knight

What com port is the modem on? Is it conflictint IRQ’s with
another device? Have you tried a different modem with the same
settings?

Don
