SB Pro clone not working

Yo folks,

the Knowledge Base asked me to post the output of enum-pnpisa if a soundcard doesn’t work. Well, my Crystal Semiconductor Corp. SB Pro clone does not work.
When I try deva-sb -p 0220 -i 5 -d 1,0 , the Mixer works, but the Mediaplayer crashes (nothing happens at all when I klick on its icon, no error messages when I try to
start it from the terminal).

Hi Malte,

Unfortunatly your Crystal Chipset is the CS4236, this chipset uses the Windows
Sound System 2 (WSS2) protocol, which currently we don’t have any drivers that
support this protocol yet.

Sorry

Erick.

Well, I don’t know about the CS4236, but I have a Yamaha chipset that
exhibits behavior identical to that which thbl describes, and I know for a
fact that my chipset provides both a SBPRO, and a WSS emulation. It could
be that it enables whichever emulation is “talked to” first, and the
enumeration stuff is hitting the WSS registers before the SBPRO registers.
This would explain why it works fine under QNX4 (where no enumeration is
being attempted).

Hi John,

What Yamaha chipset are you referring to? If we can get the exact chipset
then we can duplicate the issue here and then fix the problem.

Erick.
